I started drawing when I was very young. Growing up in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico I realized at a very young age that I had a passion for creating characters. I come from a large family of creatively driven people. My mother a writer, and father a producer who followed in my grandfather’s footsteps. Grandpa was a puerto rican television pioneer, and did caricatures as a personal hobby. I remember when I was twelve years old, my father took me to Animacion Boricua Studio. A company founded by his friend Paco Lopez, Puerto Rico’s Top Animator. When we left the studio and got in the car, I said to my father, “ That’s what I want to do when I grow up”.

So, at fourteen years old I attended Universidad del Sagrado Corazon (University of Sacred Hearts) as a shadow student, with Paco as the teacher to learn about 2D animation for a semester. As a young boy I remember being fascinated by the process and excited to create my own characters.

During high school I continued to do art. When I wasn’t being the class clown, I was drawing in my sketchbook. I decided to take my art seriously and enrolled at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. I majored in Computer Animation. Already being familiar with digital art and Adobe Illustrator I was able to redefine my style digitally.

I feel lucky to be an artist in this day and age. Today’s technology has opened so many doors for designers and artists to build successful careers.

Art is like Love. It motivates me and gives me a purpose in life.
